Usher was the headliner for this year’s Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime show! The singer is now reportedly a married man and has tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend, Jennifer ‘Jenn’ Goicoechea. According to reports, the couple filed for a marriage license with the Las Vegas’ Clark County clerk on the 8th of February and subsequently after the iconic halftime show, tied the knot.
According to court documents obtained by the media, the 45-year-old singer and the senior music executive tied the knot over the weekend. It seems to have been a busy weekend for the singer who took the Super Bowl stage for an unforgettable performance at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It was also noted at one of the after parties at Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace at the Encore Beach Club at Encore Las Vegas that Usher was wearing a band on his left ring finger at the Super Bowl. While outlets have been trying to get a confirmation from Usher’s representatives on the news, they have yet to comment on the singer’s marital status themselves.
Usher and Goicoechea were first linked together in 2016 when they were photographed together. But it was in 2019 that the couple sparked rumors of a romance budding between the two of them when they were spotted at Keith Thomas’ birthday party in Atlanta, Georgia.
The duo confirmed their relationship when Usher was seen kissing the Miami-born music executive backstage in October 2019 at the Hollywood Bowl and a picture was taken.
The singer has welcomed two children with Goicoechea. Their three-year-old daughter, Sovereign Bo, and two-year-old son, Sire Castrello.
This is the Grammy-winning singer’s second marriage. He was previously married to his ex-wife, Tameka Foster. He shares two children with her as well: his 16-year-old son Usher Raymond “Cinco” V and 15-year-old son Naviyd Ely.
The singer’s halftime Super Bowl performance was indeed iconic. He went over his amazing discography which resonated both with fans of his music and those not familiar with it. The singer had been preparing for the performance for months and said it has “definitely been an amazing time.”
“I love all the cameras, I love the energy, I love the people,” he said. “More than anything. I remind myself to smile. Most of the time you get so caught up in being serious and making certain that everything is perfect and has a certain intensity. Every day I come in, I try to give positive energy. No matter how tired I am, no matter how much the day before me will drain me right, I’m smiling. Because I’m here.”
“We work to be here and everybody that is here deserves to be,” the singer went on. “Sometimes we need to be reminded that we deserve to have what we have. And we’re so caught up in trying to hold on to it, we don’t enjoy it. So I really want to enjoy this moment, smile and enjoy.”
He hoped that viewers and fans would take his performance as an example of how you are never too old.
“There’s more than one way to sustain a career,” the singer said. “You’re never too old, you’re never too young, it all works together, but the one thing you need is to believe that you can — and that’s what Las Vegas represents for me.”
